Altyn-Arashan Valley

Altyn-Arashan is a stunning mountain valley and hot springs area located in the Terskey Ala-Too range near Karakol, eastern Kyrgyzstan. Its name means “Golden springs,” reflecting the mineral-rich hot springs that bubble up amid alpine meadows, pine forests, and snowcapped peaks.

The valley is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers. Most visitors trek from Karol-Karakol or via Altyn-Arashan trail, passing through rivers, waterfalls, and rugged mountain scenery before reaching the rustic bathhouses and yurts along the hot springs. The warm waters are perfect for relaxing after long hikes, with stunning mountain vistas all around.

Altyn-Arashan is also known for its wildlife – ibex, marmots, and various birds inhabit the valley – and for its traditional nomadic culture, with seasonal herders occasionally setting up yurts nearby. Remote, tranquil, and visually spectacular, Altyn-Arashan is a highlight of Kyrgyzstan’s trekking routes.
