Ala-Archa National Park is one of the most accessible and beautiful natural areas in Kyrgyzstan, located just 40 km south of Bishkek in the Tian Shan mountains. Known for its dramatic alpine scenery, the park offers glaciers, steep rock walls, dense forests, and fast-flowing rivers – all within a short drive from the capital.
Visitors come for both easy walks and serious mountaineering. The Ala-Archa River runs through the main valley, with trails leading to popular spots like the Ak-Sai Glacier, Ratzek Hut, and various mountain peaks. Wildlife such as ibex, marmots, and birds of prey can often be seen along the way.
Ala-Archa is a favorite place for picnics, day hikes, and weekend escapes from the city. With fresh mountain air, panoramic views, and well-marked trails, it’s one of the best gateways to Kyrgyzstan’s high-altitude nature.
