Suusamyr Valley, often called the “Switzerland of Kyrgyzstan,” is a vast alpine valley located in the Tien Shan mountains, between the Suusamyr and Kyrgyz Ala-Too ranges. At an elevation of around 2,000 meters, it is one of the country’s largest highland pastures, stretching for dozens of kilometers with rolling meadows, wildflowers, and grazing livestock in the summer months.
The valley is a traditional jailoo (summer pasture) used by Kyrgyz herders, offering a glimpse into the nomadic lifestyle that has shaped the region for centuries. During summer, yurts dot the green plains, rivers and streams wind through the valley, and wildflowers create a colorful carpet against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks.
Suusamyr Valley is perfect for hiking, horseback riding, and camping, as well as experiencing authentic Kyrgyz culture. Its wide-open spaces, cool mountain air, and stunning scenery make it a favorite destination for travelers seeking tranquility, adventure, and connection with nature.
